I've been thinking about this for a while and I finally found a stone to try it with. This piece of round Chevron Amethyst was perfect. It is two inches long, a smidge over one and a half inches wide, and only a bit over a half-inch thick. The wire is silver-plated tarnish-resistant, but the rest is nickel free metals.
